Excited for the 2010 Season
Like most baseball fans, the offseason is pretty depressing. After being at Piratefest over the weekend, it seems like the final stretch is almost over. I have been trying to plan a trip down to Bradenton, FL for Pirates Spring training. Anyone else going? I’m hoping to have it all figured out by the end of the week.
Since I wasn’t able to get my picture taken with some of the Bucco’s at Piratefest, I decided to post some pics of me and the Pirates from the end of last season.

A few months ago, I decided to finally purchase season tickets. I have gone to about 40-50 games per season for the last 4 years. I finally decided to take a big leap for the team I love. Here is a picture of my seat for the 2010 season. Of course, on the day I went to check out my seat they were cleaning the stadium. Yes, that is a trash can on the field.
So, If your ever nearby at a game. Please come by and say hello. I love meeting new Pirate fans! =)
A total of 15, 398 Fans attended Piratefest over the weekend! Maybe, there is finally hope in this city? I belive there are only good things ahead.
Some other random notes:
- Yankees, Nick Swisher is making his acting debut on an episode of “How I met your mother” Tonight. Being an Ohioan myself, I can’t help but wish him the best of luck. His personality is always crazy and hilarious, so I am exicted to see watch him tonight.
- Former Pirates broadcaster, Lanny Frattare missed out on the Frick Award. Today, they annouced that Jon Miller is the winner of the 2010 Award.

awesome pics! you got the best seat in the house! one of my buddies here at WVU and I are planning our Spring Training trip. were 50/50 on whether we are going or not. its that whole money situation ya know? Our spring break is the weekend before Easter, so thats when we’d be going.
Where do you go to school? If Morgantown was a little closer to Pittsburgh i would surely buy season tickets, I make it to nearly 20 games a year.
I’m originally from Ohio though, Youngstown. Growing up my dad’s office had season tickets so I was always at TRS and PNC Park, so many great times.

Your season ticket seat is awesome. I’m jealous. I too am starting to get a little optimistic for the 2010 season. I’ve got my trip to spring training officially planned. The only game I’ll be at in Bradenton will be on March 21 against the Rays. 3/19 I’ll be at the Blue Jays/Astros in the afternoon and the Tigers/Braves in the evening. (Two games in a day!) 3/20 I’ll check out the Yankees visit the Astros. I hate the Astros, but I’ve heard its really easy to get baseballs there, so I’m going to give it a try.
At least its now February. We’re getting there.

Thanks. I’m sorry! I dont want to make people jealous. I am just really excited to have them! What is your prediction for 2010? Think we will hit the .500 mark? That sounds like a great spring training trip!! I am thinking about going for 3 days and go to 4 games. Are you driving down or flying? I think its really cool that you count & collect your baseballs! I hope you get a lot more during spring training. You have season tickets too right? Where are yours at? Wish i would have talked to you sooner, we could have met up at Piratefest. It’s nice to find people around here who still love baseball lol

BTW, that Nick Swisher ‘How I Met Your Mother’ episode was hilarious!. Swisher almost ruins Neil Patrick Harris’ perfect week. Almost funnier was Jim Nance doing the follow-up interview.

I’m flying down and staying in Orlando for the first 2 days and Bradenton for the final day. Collecting baseballs has added an extra dimension to the game for me. It’s fun.
I also have season tickets, but they are in the upper deck, sec 327 H. I rarely sit there though, as I am usually somewhere in the lower level and constantly roam.
If I had to put money on it, I’d say the Pirates will win 72 games in 2010. I don’t see them breaking .500 until maybe 2011. I hope they prove me wrong.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I really wish I had friends that loved baseball like me, I would make a longer trip out of it. How long have you been collecting baseballs for? Well, when you roam by me during the season, come say hello. My usher guy is really nice he always lets me sneak people down =) I’m thinking 80-82, right around the .500 mark. Everyone says im nuts, lol but i really think they will do a lot better this year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully they prove both of us wrong. =)
Pittsburgh is going to have a great team this year! I like their Outfielders especially. Ryan Church will be a great addition, I’m hoping to get his autograph on some Montreal Expos gear at a Pirates Spring Training game when I’m down there.

Thanks! I’m pretty excited about Ryan Church as well. I think he is a nice addition to the team. I’m jealous your making it to spring training. I was planning on going, but as of right now I can’t go. Hopefully that will change. Hope you have a nice trip 2 ST. Since the expos are no more, who is your fav team?

I’m shooting for a realistic prediction of 71-72 wins this season. Just eliminating the annual trade deadline firesale that alters this team so much where the wins and loses get killed is going to be the biggest difference this season… it’s also something that nobody brings up often enough. Maintain pre trade deadline winning percentage and the Pirates should really improve this season.
