Jones continues to sit out with shoulder soreness
Garrett Jones sat out another game on Sunday due to shoulder soreness and does not expect to return to the lineup until Tuesday at the earliest.
Jones sustained the injury diving for a ball in New York on Thursday. Garrett also re-aggravated his shoulder on Friday night after making another dive at first base.
Jones said he woke up Saturday morning barely able to move his arm above his shoulder.
“It doesn’t complete pop out of the joint, but it shifts more than anything,” Jones said, describing the feeling. “It’s kind of a reoccurring thing, and something I have to maintain.”
Last season, Jones had a similar injury happen twice. When doctors examined his injury last year they found bruised cartilage and slight blood leakage.
The weak cartilage is the reason Garrett has trouble keeping his shoulder from popping in and out.
Jones doesn’t expect to require surgery but he will be examined again.
“It’s just a maintaining thing to keep the muscles strong,” Jones said.
