Bucs have control over Gallagher for 2011
There are some minor news to clarify regarding pitcher Sean Gallagher. He was removed from the 40-man roster last week and out righted to Triple-A Indy becoming a minor league free-agent. That’s not the case. However, after further review, Gallagher has not logged enough playing time and will remain under control by the Pirates for another year.
Gallagher does not have the ability to refuse his Triple-A assignment and will not have to sign a minor league deal. There is a chance he will be invited to Pirates Spring Training in 2011.
You almost need to have a Juirs degree to sometimes figure out the qualifications and requirements to either demote or assign a playerto the minor leagues.
It is an intricate series of rules and regulations that seems written in Chinese than English, but teams have figured way to wrangle the game within its sharp borders without injury.
Sean Gallagher is a great up and coming pitching prospect who could do great things for the Buccos in 2011. Teams like the Pirates with limited resources seem to be the one who have mastered the art of deception in regards to the minor league transactions. Another reason to keep a good eye on the Pirates.
