Diaz is officially a Pirate
The Pirates have officially announced the signing of outfielder Matt Diaz.
Diaz has agreed to a two-year deal worth $4.25 million.
The 32-year-old crushes lefties, batting .335 batting average and has a .533 slugging percentage in his eight year big league career.
Diaz is expected to platoon in right field with Garrett Jones, who hits well against righties — a .282 career average.
On a Atlanta radio show, Diaz said that Clint Hurdle is the real deal and the Pirates are going to surprise people.
