Milledge signs minor league deal with White Sox

Lastings Milledge signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. He also receives an invite to spring training.

Milledge, who turns 26 on April 5th, hit .277 with four home runs, 34 RBIs and five stolen bases in 113 games with the Pirates.

The White Sox will be his fourth major league team (Milledge made his debut with the New York Mets in 2006).

MLB’s beat reporter Scott Merkin thinks Milledge has a shot at making the big league roster. He tweeted the news on Thursday afternoon: Lastings Milledge also was signed to Minor League deal, with a ST invite. Would not be surprised if Milledge earns final reserve OF job

Young signs with the Phillies

Former Bucco Delwyn Young signed with a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. He will also receive an invite to spring training, which is held in Clearwater, Fl.

The Bucs designated Young for assignment on November 19th.

Young has spent the past two seasons in Pittsburgh where he played right field, second base, third base and was also used as a pinch-hitter.

In 206 plate appearances during the 2010 season, Young hit .236 with seven home runs and 29 RBI.

Pirates re-sign Burres

The Pirates re-signed Left hander Brian Burres to a minor league deal on Monday. He will also receive an invite to spring training.

Burres was non tendered by the Pirates on December 2nd. He went 4-5 with a 4.99 ERA in 20 games (13 starts) during the 2010 season.

With the addition to Burres, the Bucs now have 15 non roster invites to spring training this year. The list includes: Justin Thomas, Fernando Nieve, Josh Fields, Dusty Brown, Sean Gallagher, Donnie Veal, Andy Marte, Cesar Valdez, Tyler Yates, Jeff Clement, Rudy Owens, Justin Wilson, Garrett Atkins, and Corey Wimberly.
